Proposal for target platform for new Process Specification tool
It appears that our best bet for a managed & available platform for the new tool, is to leverage the existing (tier-1 support) server hosted by PSU - omseforge.cs.pdx.edu.
The implications are that we will be comfortable with a Linux deployment platform. I don't believe this should be too cumbersome & still provides us flexibility in the choice of web application framework (and development platform).

I am fine with Linux deployment as most practical and economical based on our lack of budget but defer to Ivan's decision.
We may need to pad a little time into our project plan to address any issues that arise due to limited experience for our team with Linux deployment.

As we were chatting online with Andy earlier we do not have luxury to select MS Windows platform, but we are looking at implementing Mono http://www.mono-project.com which supposedly allows to use C# for development and deploy it to Linux or other non-Windows systems.
There is even Mono Tools for Visual Studio http://mono-tools.com/download/, however they work only on full version of Visual Studio.
I hope we will have free one-year licenses as PSU students.
