Hexie is an older project that was resurrected during Spring 2010 by Noah Brummer and Chris Clark. Originally made from cheap plastic parts, Hexie is now almost entirely constructed from 1/4" polycarbonate Plexiglas. His six legs each have two degrees of freedom and his head has a gyroscopic neck attachment that allows 3 degrees of freedom.

Hexie is controlled using an Arduino Dueminalove microcontroller and 2 8-channel Pololu Mini Micro servo controllers. He currently is programmed to operate using a Playstation 2 wired controller. This controller allows him to walk forwards, backwards, rotate left or right, and has 6 pre-programmed "poses" which are activated by holding down one of the various buttons on the gamepad. In the future, we would like to make this a wireless remote control.
